Erin makes images to help people rediscover the wonder they’ve lost.

The Early Years

Erin began her 20 year career as a photographer shooting weddings and commercial work, but closed her business shortly after her family began fostering a set of siblings. Having 5 kids under age five left no time for to run a business, but in this decision she felt a great loss of the creative parts of herself. When her dad died in 2020 she realized he had orchestrated wonder her whole life and suddenly she felt the baton was being passed. She knew she had to create it for her family, but she wasn’t sure how.

Finding Wonder Again

One afternoon at carline pickup, she looked into the back of her minivan only to see the green wig her child had left behind. If her child would not dress up for themed day, then by golly, she would. She could hear some of the groans as the kids came in to find mom with a bright green bob, but in the rearview mirror she could see their sweet grins. It just took a moment to choose whimsy over apathy. And in that moment she found herself again.

Saying Yes

A few years later on a walk through the woods, a neighbor invited her to do a solo show at a local community arts center. While she was hesitant, saying yes began a cascade of incredible opportunities including becoming a Resident Artist at Grapevine’s own RTown Art Gallery. She began filming her photo adventures and you can see some of those here. Erin’s newest work “Dreamscapes” tells similar stories of losing wonder and finding it again through storied still life photography in her quaint dollhouse. She hopes you can find your wonder again too.
